Get ready for summer bike riding and decorate your bike for the 4th of July at this fun and informative event for all ages! The Carpenter-Carse Library parking lot will be sectioned off for bike riders to drop in and decorate bikes for the 4th, enjoy snacks,  visit with friends, and practice bike riding skills that may have grown rusty. No registration required.

Elia the trained therapy dog will be joining us once a month to meet with patrons of all ages. Engaging with a therapy dog has been shown to have many physical and emotional benefits. Color Your World with VINS

Discover a world where owls turn pink, and tree trunks can blink in “Color Our World!”. In partnership with the Vermont Summer Reading Program, meet three of our animal ambassadors, and learn how nature’s palette can startle, impress, and even fool the eye! Witness the rainbow of techniques our wildlife uses to hunt, hide, and survive in this program geared towards families and children of all ages!

Program Description: In one of our favorite programs of the Summer, CCL’s own Judy Curtis will assist participants in making their very own garden cake in a cup! Then kids will join CCL staff in making a mini fairy garden full of detail, color, and magic.

The program also provides a space for these kids to form their own groups, giving them the tools and confidence to continue playing and developing their own adventures together. Currently this club is full, but beginners and experienced players are welcome to contact Jen with any questions and to join the waitlist.

We invite middle school students who are interested in reading and discussing all kinds of books (chapter books, memoirs, graphic novels) that are generally geared toward students in grades 6-8. Students will receive each month’s  book from the library then meet on the fourth Thursday (November and December meetings will be held on the third Thursday) of the month to engage in a fun discussion, eat snacks, hang out with friends, and decide what to read next! This monthly after-school book club is for mid-grade readers (grades 3-5, but we are happy to talk about including other ages) who want to see what it’s like to be part of a regular book club, especially one with a really fun topic! We will read a new STEM themed book each month, then get together for snacks and discussion.
